Our children’s studio photography sessions are very laid back and child led with minimal set posing, this results in truly natural photographs showing your child’s personality

With up to two hours available in a session we have plenty of time to get settled in and lots of room for little snack breaks if needed.

We are a fully inclusive studio. Beth has over six years experience of working with children with additional support needs and complex disabilities. Beth is confident in communicating via the use of Makaton signing and can adapt the studio to suit all sensory needs. Childrens Studio sessions faq

Once your child can sit unaided they are able to have a sesssion, usually this is from 6 months old +
My sessions are very minimalistic and focus on the clever use of colour to create beautiful, timeless artwork for your home.
Once you book your session I will send over a styling guide to help you pick the perfect outfits.
Basically, you want to incorporate the same colours as the backdrop that you choose into their outfits. For example, if you choose the grey background, I’d recommend going with monochrome colours.

Picked the light blue background? You’re going to want to aim for different shades of blue.
Cream background? You guessed it! Neutral, earthy tones are going to be your best friend for this one!
Most importantly, you want to make sure that your child is comfortable. Well thought out outfits don’t have to mean fancy and uncomfortable. The perfect colour of comfy loungewear and bare feet are often the perfect choice!
No I don’t strictly have a maximum age however I do find that from around 11 years old, they’re not as keen to be sat in front of a camera! From that age I recommend a location session as the camera isn’t in their face as much and they’ll probably feel more relaxed and themselves.
Feel free to bring any accessories that might go with their outfit such as a cute pair of sunglasses or a hat - anything really! Accessories are fun as they give the child something to interact with whilst having their photo taken.
Snacks! we take as many wee breaks as needed during the session and snacks definitely help keep the energy up (that includes for the grown ups too!).
Any special teddies/items that mean a lot to the child are always a good shout, even just as a comfort to have during the session.
The majority of children’s sessions last around an hour however we have up to two available just in case they’re needed.
At the end of your session we will book you in to come back to the studio for your viewing and ordering appointment around 1-2 weeks later.
Digital files are not included in the fee, you will have the option to buy them at your viewing and ordering appointment if you wish.

FAmily and children location SESSIONS

When is comes to photographing families we like to take our sessions outdoors! We have so much beautiful scenery on our doorstep so it’s good to make use of it!

Our children and family location sessions are very relaxed and lots of fun. Beth encourages you to not even look at the camera but just interact and be goofy with your family!

Our sessions can be held at a location of your choice or Beth is more than happy to make some recommendations!

Want to make your session even more magical? Book it to take place during golden hour, that small period of time where the sun is setting and everything is has a beautiful glow! Sometimes this means a later bedtime for the kiddos, especially in the height of summer but it is WORTH IT!

FAQ FAMILY LOCATION SESSIONS

Rain happens and we have no control of it (sadly) if this is the case then we will postpone your session to the closest available date with no extra fee required.
I find that neutral and deep colours work really well. To help keep that timeless look to your images I highly recommend avoiding branded clothing.
It is also advised that everyone is dressed to the same ‘vibe’. i.e if one person is dressed very casual and everyone else is looking slightly more dressed up, you’re images aren’t going to gel together. So if you’re going to dress casual and relaxed, everyone should be dressed casual and relaxed. If one parent is going to dress is a beautiful flowy dress - the other parent should definitely avoid the shorts and trainers look!
These photos are going to be with you for years to come so lets make sure they stand the test of time!
If you’re child has a favourite toy or piece of clothing they love to wear (tiaras and fairy wings seem to be a popular one!) please feel free to bring them. These often really help children come out of their shell and give them something to focus on rather than worrying about the camera.

At the end of your session I will book you in for your viewing for roughly 1-2 weeks time.
There are so many options in Aberdeen! If there’s a location that has meaning and memories for you, that’s always a good option. I am also happy to suggest locations if you aren’t sure.
Wild is good! My sessions are great fun and often involve me chasing the kids and encouraging them to roll down grassy hills and all sorts (sorry!!) My job is to capture authentic, natural photos of your family - wild kids are the perfect subjects!
Absolutely! I love photographing couples and capturing the connection between them. Couples often book me for a session if there has been a recent engagement or if they’re expecting a baby and want some lovely photos with bump before baby appears!
